New Delhi, August 16, 2025 – President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Governor of Manipur, to take on additional responsibilities as Governor of Nagaland following the passing of La Ganesan.According to Rashtrapati Bhavan, Bhalla will assume the role with immediate effect.A retired IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, Bhalla hails from Jalandhar, Punjab. He took office as Governor of Manipur on December 24, 2024. Prior to this, he served as Union Home Secretary from August 2019 to August 2024.
