Tarn Taran, October 6, 2025: The Election Commission of India has released the schedule for the by-election to the 21-Tarn Taran Assembly Constituency in Punjab, bringing the Model Code of Conduct into immediate effect across the district.
Punjab’s Chief Electoral Officer, Sibin C, stated that the official notification for the by-election will be issued on October 13, 2025. The last date for filing nomination papers is October 21, followed by scrutiny on October 22. Candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations until October 24.
Polling for the by-election is scheduled for November 11, 2025, with counting of votes set to take place on November 14, 2025. Sibin C clarified that candidates may submit nomination papers on any working day between October 13 and October 21, except October 19 (Sunday) and October 20 (Diwali), which are public holidays.
The by-election is expected to draw significant attention as political parties prepare to field their candidates in what is likely to be a closely watched contest.
