National Times Bureau :- Following the recent Tarn Taran bypolls, Punjab is once again gearing up for a fresh electoral exercise. The Punjab State Election Commission is scheduled to announce the dates for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections today.
A press conference has been called at 3:30 PM at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh, where the Commission will formally release the schedule for polls across 23 Zila Parishads and 154 Panchayat Samitis.
According to initial indications, the elections are expected to be held by December 15. With the announcement, the Model Code of Conduct will immediately come into force across the state.
The development sets the stage for another high-stakes political contest, as parties prepare to mobilize their cadres in rural Punjab once more.
