Chandigarh, July 18, 2025 — As Punjab’s ongoing anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh” marked its 139th day, police across the state arrested 125 drug smugglers on Friday and seized a significant haul of narcotics. The operation led to the recovery of 8.6 kg of heroin, 500 grams of opium, 151 kg of poppy husk, and ₹11,980 in drug money.The total number of drug smugglers arrested since the campaign began has now reached 22,533. Chandigarh, July 18: The Patiala GST division has recorded an impressive 40 percent growth rate in GST collection during the first quarter of fiscal year 2025-26, outpacing all other divisions in Punjab. This was disclosed during the quarterly review meeting of the Excise and Taxation department, chaired by Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema.
