Chandigarh, January 26 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday said the state is scripting a new definition of prosperity, asserting that there is no gap between the government’s intent and action. Addressing the 77th Republic Day event in Gurugram after hoisting the national flag, the Chief Minister said Haryana is moving swiftly in step with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat, guided by the principle of “government of the people, by the people and for the people.”
Before the ceremony, the Chief Minister paid floral tributes at the Veer Shahidi Smarak to honour martyrs. He also reviewed the parade contingents of Haryana Police, women police, Home Guards and Scouts, and took the salute.
Beginning his address with homage to freedom fighters, martyrs, Constitution architect Dr B R Ambedkar and members of the Constituent Assembly, Saini said Republic Day is a reminder of national unity, cultural pride and self-reliance. He said India’s journey towards Atmanirbharta has given the country a new global identity, which is a matter of pride for every citizen.
The Chief Minister said Republic Day is not only about remembering the past but also about reaffirming commitment to a brighter future. Referring to the state government’s election manifesto, he said 54 out of 217 promises have already been fulfilled within a year, while work on the remaining commitments is progressing rapidly. He said initiatives such as the “no expense, no recommendation” job policy, online registry system, transparent transfer policy, educated panchayats and Antyodaya campaign have earned Haryana nationwide recognition.
Highlighting Haryana’s contribution to national growth, Saini said the state accounts for just 1.34 percent of India’s area and 2.09 percent of its population, yet contributes 3.7 percent to the national GDP. With a per capita income of ₹3.53 lakh, Haryana ranks first among major states. He added that the state leads in per capita GST collection and is among top achievers in ease of doing business rankings. Haryana also ranks first in North India in logistics facilities for industries and tops medal tallies in national and international sporting events.
The Chief Minister said Haryana has emerged as a preferred destination for domestic and foreign investors due to investor-friendly policies. Over the past 11 years, more than 12.92 lakh MSMEs have been established, generating employment for nearly 49 lakh people. He said over 150 services have been brought online for investors, with approvals ensured within 12 days. Industrial development is being promoted across regions, including the Maruti Suzuki mega plant at IMT Kharkhoda, expansion of Gurugram as a global IT and startup hub, logistics hubs in Narnaul, manufacturing clusters in Hisar and an electronics park in Sohna.
Speaking on youth welfare, Saini said the government is committed to securing the future of young people. He said 24,000 government jobs were provided on October 17, 2024, followed by 34,000 jobs over the past year, taking the total to 1.8 lakh jobs in 11 years. Skill training has been imparted to over 1.14 lakh youth. He also mentioned legislation passed to curb illegal migration routes and crack down on fraudulent travel agents.

On women empowerment, the Chief Minister said women’s participation is essential to the vision of Viksit Haryana. Under the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, financial assistance of ₹2,100 per month is being provided to over 8.64 lakh women, with ₹441 crore disbursed so far. He said 15 lakh families are receiving LPG cylinders at subsidised rates, women have 50 percent representation in panchayats, and over 2.34 lakh women have been made ‘Lakhpati Didis.’ He also highlighted initiatives such as women-led startups, SHG-run ration depots, drone training programmes and free higher education facilities for girls.
Emphasising law and order, Saini said a strong security framework is the foundation of a safe Haryana. He said operations like Track Town, Clean and Prahari have created a deterrent for criminals. Under Operation Hotspot Domination, more than 2,200 criminals have been arrested, while the Nasha Mukt Haryana campaign led to over 6,000 arrests and seizure of illegal assets worth nearly ₹12 crore.
Referring to farmer welfare, the Chief Minister said Haryana is the only state procuring 24 crops at MSP, with ₹1.64 lakh crore transferred directly to farmers’ accounts. He said over ₹15,448 crore has been paid as crop damage compensation over 11 years, and reforms such as abolition of abiana, implementation of the Agricultural Land Lease Act and strict action against spurious inputs have strengthened farmers. Modern technologies like drones, AI-based decision systems and digital farming are also being promoted.
Calling Gurugram a blend of education and modernity in the land of Guru Dronacharya, Saini said the city’s success as a hub for IT, startups and automobile industries reflects the impact of the right policies and public participation.

During the event, children presented cultural programmes, and dependents of martyrs along with achievers from various fields were honoured. The Chief Minister announced an incentive of ₹11 lakh for school students who participated in cultural performances and declared a holiday for all schools on January 27.
