Amritsar, November 2 — Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has secured a fifth straight term as President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) after winning 117 out of 136 valid votes in the election held at Teja Singh Samundri Hall on Saturday. His rival, Mithu Singh Kahneke, received 18 votes, while one vote was declared invalid.
Alongside Dhami’s re-election, the SGPC also appointed other key office-bearers. Raghujit Singh Virk was chosen as Senior Vice-President, Baldev Singh Kalyan as Junior Vice-President, and Sher Singh Mandwala as General Secretary.
Dhami’s continued leadership underscores his firm hold within the SGPC’s General House and the steady backing of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). His supporters hailed the victory as a reaffirmation of confidence in his stewardship and the direction he has set for the Sikh religious body.
