Ludhiana (Gurpreet Singh): Punjab has reason to celebrate after Ludhiana’s Aryan Gupta secured the top position in the NEET-UG 2026 examination, earning All India Rank (AIR) 1 with an exceptional score of 715 out of 720. The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the results on Thursday night, placing Aryan among the country’s brightest medical aspirants.
Aryan outshone more than 22 lakh candidates who appeared for the national-level entrance examination, making him one of the highest scorers in this year’s highly competitive test. His remarkable performance has brought recognition not only to Ludhiana but also to Punjab’s academic community.
Reflecting on his achievement, Aryan said the result was the outcome of unwavering dedication and a disciplined study schedule maintained over several months. He credited his family, teachers and mentors for constantly motivating him throughout his preparation.
Coming from a medical background, Aryan has long aspired to pursue a career in healthcare. His dream is to specialise in oncology, a goal inspired by the loss of a close family member to cancer during his childhood. He believes serving patients battling life-threatening illnesses would be the most meaningful way to contribute to society.
His family described the success as the reward for years of commitment and perseverance. Interestingly, academic excellence runs in the household, with Aryan’s elder brother also securing an outstanding rank in NEET in the previous year.
The announcement of his result sparked celebrations among relatives, teachers and well-wishers, while congratulatory messages poured in from educationists and political leaders. Many hailed Aryan’s accomplishment as a proud moment for Punjab and an inspiration for thousands of students preparing for competitive examinations across the country.
